Review from an early viewer: "I finally felt on top of my own things enough to carve out some time to review your film, so I got up early this morning before the kids were awake, got some coffee, and put on the show. The coffee wasn't needed. It was absolutely enthralling. The interweaving of narration, interviews, archival photos, and archival video is absolutely perfect -- some of the best I've seen in any documentary, and I've seen a lot. The music is great. In fact, I'd like to hear a lot more of the street music jam with the old guy and young band -- maybe even the whole song. This really captures the early sense of joy in the This is genuinely one of the most moving documentaries I've ever seen. Perhaps it's my love of the country and memories of some of the very best times of my life. You have done a remarkable job of conveying the complexity of Nepal, the sources of the revolution, and the ambiguous prospects for its future. There were many points where I found myself saying "wow" out loud, either in a good way or a shocked way." |
